Italian.png Italian text

Quando lo gallo chiama la gallina,
canta versi d’amor soavemente;
canta cucurucu,

German.png German translation

Wenn der Hahn die Henne ruft,
singt er sanft Verse der Liebe;

English.png English translation

When the cock calls the hen,
he sings verses of love softly;
he sings “cucurucu”,
for everything bows before the god of love.

My lyre for this good-for-nothing,
as proof of the longing my heart feels,
sounds “cucurucu”, …

And pretending this, every hour she kills me,
and in mockery of love, with a false mind,
she sings “cucurucu”, …

But you for succour call my tongue,
and even though the cruel one should scorn my love,
it sings “cucurucu”,
for love does not in vain succour him that loves truly.
